Mad Libs

Adlibs have definitely become very popular in the last few years. OJ Da Juiceman is a great example of this; I even use his signature “aye aye oookay” as my ring/text tone: here. These signature adlibs have become so influential, there have even been disputes over who originally created them. A few years ago OJ and Soulja Boy briefly beefed over the use of “Aye” in the track “Gucci Bandana”.

OJ Da Juiceman vs. Soulja Boy: “Aye”

More recently, I’ve noticed a few slightly less high-profile adlibs being used by multiple artists. Who was the first to claim these in questions? I’ll let you decide:

Jae Millz vs. Trey Songz (and others): “Lego”

Jae claims “Lego” here.

Trey uses “Lego” in his new single with Nicki Minaj here.

Drake vs. Usher: “Yeah Man”

Drake claims “Yeah Man” way back in ’07 here.

Usher’s recent use in “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” here.

MP3s for your consideration:

Soulja Boy feat. Gucci Mane & Shawty Lo – Gucci Bandana

Jae Millz – I’m Back

Trey Songz feat. Nicki Minaj – Bottoms Up

the remix is good too: Trey Songz feat. Gucci Mane & Wiz Khalifa- Bottoms Up (remix)

Drake – Closer To My Dreams

Usher feat. Pitbull – DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love
