Dave has been a friend of Enliten for quite some time now. Check out his new music video, “Light One”, off his newest project, “AKA Dave Ruffin”. Download the whole project at www.daveraps.com, but first, here’s the video:
Here’s an international supplement to my Artists to Watch ’11-’12 post; check out 3 emerging artists from Europe. The first 2 are from England, and the last is an old favorite from Sweden.
Tinie already has a couple of big hits, in my opinion. His ‘Pass Out’ track hit the #1 spot in the UK, and the collaboration track with Swedish House Mafia (below) is one of my personal favorites. Also, check out Chiddy Bang’s version of ‘Pass Out’ here.
Another well-established UK artist looking to make the jump across the Atlantic – and with featured artists Chris Brown, Trey Songz & Keri Hilson it shouldn’t be a problem. His sophomore album, Transition, is scheduled for an April 18th release, but you can get a sneak peak below.
Check out my post highlighting a Tensta concert I attended last year in Sweden. Also, be sure to take a look at Nike’s American Made Series showcasing Adam as well as Swedish NBA star Jonas Jerebko. Adam’s Scared of the Dark album should be available any day now – can’t wait.
Mike Posner feat. Lil’ Wayne -Bow Chicka Wow Wow
Chip Tha Ripper – Light One Up
Bei Maejor – The Lala Song
J. Cole Feat. Drake – In The Morning
Chris Brown feat. Kevin McCall – Real Hip Hop Shit
Gucci Mane feat. Soulja Boy & Yo Gotti- Burrr
As you might have seen, DyMe-A-DuZiN released his highly anticipated music video for “MILF”. The track was originally featured on “The Orientation” mixtape, which dropped on Enliten last year. If you haven’t done so already, download the mixtape and check out the music video on Dymez’s Enliten Elite page at www.enliten.me/dymeaduzin.
Last week also saw the completion of J.K. the Rapper’s “X6 Departure” with the release of mixtape number 6 in as many weeks. Check out the recent tape, “Less Rap, More Emotion“, and get the complete series on his Enliten Elite page at www.enliten.me/jktherapper.
After electrifying Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, the future is officially here:
For those unfamiliar, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) is a Los Angeles based hip-hop collective headlined by Tyler the Creator – but they’re better described as a legitimate movement in the music industry. Odd Future’s 11-man team of independent artists reminds me of the also Cali-based group Living Legends last decade. But Odd Future’s musical style is no comparison; this article describes their sound the best:
They curse, they shout and they’re definitely NSFW. But those who can stomach the sometimes-repellent, but always captivating, lyrics will find one of the most daring, in-your-face, and unpredictable musical acts to come along in a long time.
With the current state of the genre in question, Odd Future’s authentic, not-watered-down approach is eye-opening and much appreciated. True fans of rap have become disenchanted with overproduced, overplayed pop – Odd Future is a breath of fresh air and a peak at the ‘odd future’ of the game.
Here’s a sample of music videos:
I would also like to highlight Tyler’s verse from “Seven” because it embodies OFWGKTA in multiple ways and is just dope – one of my favorite tracks:
I guess I gotta be a fuckin’ hand-me-down rapper
From Los Angee area anytime I’m fuckin’ landing
Fuck 2DopeBoyz and NahRight, shout out to Hype Track
Them motherfuckers could never get rid of me
Guess I gotta do a fucking song with Dom Kennedy
Get these fuckin’ hip hop bloggers to start feelin’ me
Because I’m 17, compose my own beats
Lyrically I’m dope enough to ass-fuck the dude who made nicotine
Maybe I should buy some Hundreds, wear some fuckin’ skinny jeans
And follow in your footsteps like a motherfuckin’ millipede
Centipede, make songs about Gucci and cigaweed
Jerk with my friends like it’s some motherfuckin’ little league
No I ain’t no fucking hipster, mister
No I’m not no fucking Kid Cudi, all my fucking fans love me
Collaboration hits for fans screaming fuck buddies, yo, yo
