2012 Prophecies

With all the 2012 doomsday predictions gaining popularity recently, here’s one of my own: hip-hop will officially be dead. Many have said it before, but it has never been true. How could hip-hop be dead already when Eminem’s “Recovery” was the best-selling album of any genre in 2010? I’m not saying hip-hop will suddenly cease from existence, but you will definitely see more and more  songs referred to as “hip-hop inspired”. The precursors to this musical evolution are already apparent in the obvious trend toward electro/house beats. I also see a sub-genre sprouting up with the more mellow, somewhat rock-influenced work of artists like Kid Cudi and even Wiz Khalifa (Wiz’s “Say Yeah” supports the house movement though). Plus, many doomsday prophecies refer to stars exploding and the world ending… WorldStarHipHop anyone? Seriously though, my prediction is definitely less ridiculous than some others out there. Here’s support for the electro/house movement (some tracks are newer than others, but you get the idea):

David Guetta feat. Rihanna – Who’s That Chick mp3

Tiesto vs Diplo feat. Busta Rhymes – C’mon (Catch Em By Surprise) mp3

Benny Benassi feat. Chris Brown – Beautiful People mp3

Benny Benassi feat. T-Pain – Electroman mp3

Diddy feat. Ludacris – Tomorrow Tonight mp3

Swedish House Mafia feat. Pharrell – One mp3

Hip Pop

I haven’t posted singles in a while, so I thought I might as well. Besides the first couple here, I think a lot of these songs will become pretty popular soon. I mean, I’m not a huge fan of Akon, but the beat on ‘New York City’ is legit. Birdman is still holding it down with a couple singles here. And Timbaland teaming up with Shakira and Lil Wayne? Hit. Also, watch out for Cory Gunz and Wiz Khalifa in the near future. :

Tyga – The Nausea

Cory Gunz – Big Noise

Wiz Khalifa – The Plane

Drake feat. Birdman – More Milli

Timbaland feat. Shakira & Lil Wayne – Give Up To Me

OJ Da Juiceman – When I Get Big

Akon – New York City

Birdman feat. Jay Sean, Flo-Rida & Mack Maine – Written On Her (remix)

Wale feat. Pharrell – Inhibitions

Which one has a better verse?

Mario feat. Big Sean – Before She Said Hi

Mario feat. B.o.B. – Before She Said Hi (remix)

Quick enliten update: the new site should be up within the next couple weeks. Our first line of shirts are going to be produced probably this week – the designs are pretty much all 100% finished.

I’m going up to Seattle tomorrow for a few days. I’ll be at the Seattle Sounders vs. Barcelona soccer game tomorrow night too.

Here is some new music to keep you entertained in the meantime; download them all for a nice little variety pack! There will be a lot of updates regarding enliten in the next few weeks, so be on the look out!

guccimanethemoviepart2cover-thumbGucci Mane – The Movie 2: The Sequel

My fav tracks:

Gucci Mane feat. Trey Songz – Beat It Up

Gucci Mane – Leading Lady

Gucci Mane feat. Woo Da Kid – Pressure

I would suggest you go out and buy Fabolous’ new CD – Loso’s Way. I’m a lil scared to post whole retail CD, so sorry about that. Pretty much every song is legit. I already posted ‘Salute’ with Lil Wayne. Here is a track with Jay-Z:

Fabolous feat. Jay-Z – Money Goes, Honey Stay (When The Money Goes)

Gucci Mane feat. OJ Da Juiceman – Wasted (remix)

Drake – The Winner

Drake feat. Saukrates – The Search

JD Era feat. Drake – Black Magic

Soulja Boy – Stick Em Up

Lil Kim feat. The Dream & Soulja Boy – Download (remix)

Slaughterhouse – Cut You Loose

Haven’t been able to post since Friday, so I’m just posting some random new songs that have come out recently. Check ’em out and lemme know what you think!

Lil Wayne feat. Drake, Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda & Mack Maine – Every Girl

Pretty ridiculous song, but I actually really like it. Wayne comes with a quality verse, and the rest of Young Money kills it. What do you expect though when you got Wayne, Drake & Jae Millz on a track. My fav verse is prob the second by Drake. Straight up killlllllls it. Wayne’s new official mixtape is called “Hottest Nigga Under The Sun“. Oh and Drake has a new mixtape called “So Far and Gone” that should be out soon so check back for that!

The Dream – I Ain’t Looking For Love

I’ve been wanting to post a song by The Dream for awhile now. I think he is pretty dope and a lot his new songs have been quality. This song is a lil old, but I still like it. It is kinda short though… I almost posted The Dream’s newer song “Stripper Love”, but I’m not feeling the CDQ version with Too $hort. Anyways, let me know if you wanna hear more from The Dream. His new CD should be droppin sometime soon…

Q-Tip feat. Busta Rhymes, Raekwon & Lil Wayne – Renaissance Rap (remix)

Wayne teams up with some veterans in the game… I like the beat a lot. Q-Tip’s CD (The Renaissance) that came out late in ’08 was pretty legit; he always seems to have dope beats. I’m not a huge fan of Busta or Raekwon but mad respect.

N.A.S.A. feat. David Byrne, Chuck D, Ras Congo, Seu Jorge & Z-Trip – Money

Here’s N.A.S.A.’s newest song. They also came out with a track called “N.A.S.A. Music”, but that one features E-40 and he kinda annoys me haha. I’m not really feelin this one as much as some of their other songs, but maybe some of you will like it.

Teriyaki Boyz feat. Kanye West & Big Sean – Teriya-king

I’ve been following the Teriyaki Boyz for a few years now. Despite their lame name, they actually make some dope songs. The first song that caught my attention was “Tokyo Drift” from the Fast & Furious movie. Not gonna lie, the new Fast & Furious looks pretty sik… Plus their association with Pharrell automatically makes them legit; guaranteed sik beats. Check their most recent video for “Zock On” with Pharrell and Busta Rhymes; kinda cool:

Wrist Phones & Robots

Wrist Phone:

Alright, so this first one is a pretty cool concept for a watch/phone. Not only does it look legit as a phone, it’s dope as a watch too. I really am liking the simplicity of the design; I’d def rock one:

“Simple, non pretentious, the phone is a very basic device that is devoid of the fancy stuff. This makes its cheap to manufacture and market. Another point in its favor is the portability factor; you can simply wrap it around your wrist. Leaving the connectivity issues aside, the phone has the potential to make its mark.”

Black one is fiiiiire.

“Each year we get wind of another Japanese company furthering their quest to make robots more life-like and more useful to society. Today, another company called Kyosho introduced their new Postkun (Little Postman) robot. We’re not sure what the $3,500 miniature humanoid is supposed to be used for, but it looks dope. Still, it’s nothing compared to the other robots already on the market. Ones that can actually assist humans in ways never before thought possible. It’s kinda scary, but it’s the future, kinda like Kanye’s crew’s fashion.”

Little postman does look like a pimp. Here is a video of their previous version just messin around:

Plus, he kinda reminds me of the robot on Common’s “U.M.C.” video (AKA Pharrell), which is pretty sik looking. What else do you expect from Hype Williams though:

***Update: So apparently every “U.M.C.” video on YouTube has embedding disabled. Click here to watch video through YouTube’s site***

Nothing is original

I’ve been wanting to post a few random things for awhile, so I thought I’d post now. This is something I found the other day on digg I think:

I thought this is an appropriate quote, especially to have on a blog. A blog is pretty much just a selection of stolen ideas and concepts taken and smashed together by the blog’s author. But at the same time, this collection of borrowed material can create new meaning. I guess just something to think about. This quote also kinda reminds me of one I read from Banksy in his book Wall and Piece that said:

“Become good at cheating and you never need to become good at anything else.”

Slightly different view, but I like it anyways.

Also, I am currently really feeling “Yes” by Lil Wayne feat. Pharrell so you should download that immediately. Here’s the link:

Lil Wayne feat. Pharrell – “Yes”
